I want to read about heroes…

Author Raymond Chandler wrote “Down these mean streets a man must go who is not himself mean, who is neither tarnished nor afraid… He is the hero, he is everything. He must be a complete man and a common man and yet an unusual man. He must be, to use a rather weathered phrase, a man of honor, by instinct, by inevitability, without thought of it, and certainly without saying it. He must be the best man in his world and a good enough man for any world.”

We need heroes. They guide us and inspire us. They are the beacons of truth in a muddled world. They show us not only what is, but what can be.

In the words of another author, Bertolt Brecht, “Unhappy the land that is in need of heroes.”

We have heroes in this world. You can read about them in these books.

And by reading about them, you eventually become them.

Be heroic!
